December 7 and Samurai Mini Subs

My husband enjoys WW2 military history.  We have watched many documentaries and movie depictions of what occurred that tragic day at Pearl Harbor.  My brother, also a history buff, sent me a very interesting link today.  Regarding these “Samurai mini subs,” he explained that “the US Navy sank them so the Soviets would not get the technology ahead of its time.  The larger sub had an above deck hangar for three planes, on deck catapult, and had plans of going to the coast of the US and dropping 1800 lb bombs on major US cities.  After Yamamoto was killed, the plan changed to bombing the Panama Canal, but the war ended before this took place.”
