We had our first child when I was 34, and our last when I was 45.
We lost a child in miscarriage.
I am Swedish and Norwegian on my Mom’s side, English and Irish on my Dad’s.
I am nearly 6 feet tall.
I had the adventure of an appendectomy when I was 15.
My favorite candy is York Peppermint Patties.
I love the smell of sea air, but I prefer to live in a mountainous area.
I’d like to learn to play a hammered dulcimer.
There is nothing better than napping in a cabin with the sound of the wind in the firs.
I love to write.
I graduated from Bob Jones University, and I am pleased to share that with anyone who asks.
I am a Daddy’s girl.
I’d love to go “under cover” in the alto section of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
My first job after college was as the secretary to the Dean Emeritus of the College of Architecture at Clemson University. I was also book keeper for the Clemson Architectural Foundation…a responsibility that fell to me, I believe, because I graduated from a Christian college, and was presumed to be honest (it was certainly not because of my vast experience…I had none, not even one class on the subject!)
My first job as a kid was a paper route, then I did short stints at Burger King (I believe everyone should be on the other side of that counter for at least a week) and also helping at a veterinary clinic.
My favorite possession is a key fob from my Dad’s keychain, which says “A Father Leads With Love”. This was so true of him. I had given it to him for Father’s Day years ago, and when he died it was given back to me.
My favorite flower is a rose–pastel pink.
My favorite holiday is Easter.
My favorite memory is sitting on my Dad’s lap to read the funny papers every Sunday afternoon.
I don’t only love my kids…I like them too.
I think frozen grapes are the world’s best summer snack.
My greatest weakness is stubbornness; but I like to call it “determination”.
My favorite author would be Amy Carmichael.
My favorite Bible passage is Psalm 121. Singular verse would be Philippians 4:13.
I would love to author a book one day.
My husband is terrific.
My most wonderful answer to prayer is that both of my parents, in their twilight years, accepted Christ as their Savior.
My favorite hobby is teaching God’s Word…to children or to ladies groups. I love to do it.
Hey Diane!
I love your #15 and I think you’d make a great author. You already are….you just haven’t put it all in a book.
Love ya! Susan
(You do know you went over 25 don’t you! )
Hey–my kids were just wondering out loud the other day about how you were doing. Thanks for the nice comments…and yes, I do know I went over…that’s why it says “25+”.
Somehow I had not seen ths before. It was fun learning a little more about you. Pink roses are my favorites, too. Things are different on the other side of the counter, aren’t they! I would have never guessed you were so tall. How wonderful to know your parents accepted the Lord.
Hi Barbara,
I just added this not too long ago. Lots of my readers know me…but then, lots don’t (there’s a quotable quote for you ). I think it’s fun to provide some little snapshots that can be put together for the “panorama” view.
I loved reading your 25+ things about you. Some of them I knew, of course, because I was at BJU when you were dating and became engaged. I had forgotten how tall you were. I am only 5′1.”
I appreciate all you do to be an encouragement to those of us who know the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. I know that you have been a major encouragment to me. May the Lord richly bless you and your family because you have been a major blessing to me (Philippians 4:14-19).
How better to know a person than know what their favorite ice-cream flavor is — lol–mine is coffee too, btw! My behind the counter experience was at MickeyD’s –first crop of girls hired there in our town –telling my age but remember when only boys worked at McDonalds?
Oh wow, what a truly tremendous blessing to have your parents trust Jesus as their Savior in their twilight years.
I may use what some could consider "unusual" resources from time to time. I have used Catholic resources, charismatic resources, quite reformed resources, new evangelical resources, conservative evangelical resources, and some resources that are entirely devoid of spiritual merit. This does not mean I am on any particular bandwagon. It merely indicates that I thought there might be some value that could be derived for my readers from making them aware of selected information. No need to form opinions or phone your congressman. Be good Bereans, and discern through the eyes of scripture. (Acts 17:10,11)

Thanks for your sweet note, Martha. May the Lord bless you as you touch lives yourself. Do you still have your children’s club?
